Feb. 29 - God shows us hope

Exodus 13 begins the account of God leading the people of Israel to safety and the dramatic parting of the Red Sea. This is an amazing demonstration of protection. While we may not have an army of 600 chariots on our heels, there is still plenty that chases us and makes us fearful.

Some people have to flee to find freedom, sleeping in ditches to escape bombing, and fearing for their very lives. Others are abused in their own homes and are in need of a safe haven. Whatever our background or life situation, many of us yearn for the peace that passes all understanding. This is the glory of the Red Sea victory: God shows us hope, the promise that we can find peace on the other side of a desperate situation or a difficult quest. We may not find pillars of clouds and fire to guide us, but we can learn to recognize other manifestations God sends our way.
